Reading Horizons, an industry-leading educational software company, is looking for a junior-level Software QA Engineer to join the Quality Assurance Department. Directly working with a team of experienced QAs, the Software Engineers and Product Managers you would be closely integrated into every aspect of the software development process; creating, executing, and documenting quality assurance manual test plans/cases against pre-planned requirements of the software.  

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Participate/collaborate in specific software planning/review meetings and discussions with Product Teams
  • Develop a good understanding of all different aspects of the software and projects
  • Own all regression, cross-browser, mobile, accessibility, and network testing across all products
  • Perform junior-level manual testing  across several different web/desktop and mobile platforms
  • Work with Software Engineers to resolve defects and deliver project stories
  • Create and track software bugs/defects in tracking system (Jira)
  • Help with documentation and maintenance of Test Cases (TestRail)

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • 0-1 years of hands-on manual QA experience
  • Will stay motivated while performing repetitive tasks and testing for long periods of time, for example while regression testing and testing the same thing across several different platforms
  • Must be able to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time
  • Motivated and willing to assure the best quality of the software 
  • Desire to learn new skills
    • Strong knowledge and skills in using modern user interfaces and operating systems including Windows, MAC, Android, and iOS
    • Very organized, creative, detail-oriented, curious, and thorough
    • Can work independently with adequate direction
    • Patience, focus, and ability to jump back and forth testing several different projects and platforms


  • Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills.


  • Team-oriented
  • Must be able to work full-time (30-40 hours a week) and start training in the office with the team. Work-at-home potentially available, depending on needs of team and company Covid-19 plan
