JOB SUMMARY

The Software Product Owner at Reading Horizons is responsible for ensuring the prioritization and execution of new product features, enhancements to current features, and resolution of product bugs. The Product Owner reports directly to the Chief Product Officer and closely works with the software engineering team leadership and members. As the name suggests, this role is responsible for OWNING the experiences our users have with our products and ensuring that our products positively impact as many teachers and students as possible in our mission to eradicate illiteracy.

STATUS

This is a full-time, salaried position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with product leadership for both student and administrative experiences to distill their vision into actionable development items that create impactful product features
  • Create and maintain thorough user story documentation so scrum teams can execute, as well as product/business documentation for product stakeholders
  • Own and prioritize product team backlogs according to aggregated vision and priority from product leadership, bugs, and existing backlog of potential features.
  • Be available to answer questions from scrum teams regarding scope clarification or additional documentation needs
  • Evaluate and sign-off on features/bugs to ensure they meet all requirements and align with product vision and strategy
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner in a software development environment using Agile Methodologies.
  • Passion for improving lives through literacy
  • Must be comfortable with the use of technology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) Certification Highly Preferred
  • Experience in the field of education
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills; ability to solve problems
  • Experience with creating and/or implementing blended learning environments
  • Ability to say "no" and still keep relationships strong

SALARY

$80-100k Depending on Experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires significant amounts of computer work, reading of printed and digital documents, and the need to attend meetings.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & LOCATION

Work schedule is expected to align with regular workday schedules, with some flexibility. While on-location work is preferred, remote work can be considered. The working environment is a temperature-controlled office in Kaysville, Utah.
